As your child's interest in music grows, you may choose to enrol them into private music lessons. A 30 minute lesson involves time learning to play the instrument, read notation and some other basic theory. Students are also encouraged to learn about composers, history of music, and create their own compositions.
From what age can a child start private lessons? It does depend on the child. At the age of 5, some children do show a willingness to pay attention for 20 - 30 minutes. At such a young age, the lesson is broken up into segments of time drawing/writing, moving to music, as well as sitting at the instrument.
Miss Catherine currently offers private lessons in Sunbury, teaching piano, singing and music theory. Various styles may be explored, from contemporary to classical and jazz. The new AMEB Musical Theatre syllabus is being offered to singing students, as well as AMEB and ABRSM exam levels for piano and singing.
